Learning Outcomes
By the end of the course, the student must be able to:
- Analyze quantitative data
- Analyze Probability problems
- Infer data driven conclusions
- Quantify Probabilities given underlying information
Transversal skills
- Collect data.
- Access and evaluate appropriate sources of information.
Teaching methods
The class is very interactive, and students will be expected to answer questions in class. Answers will be accepted in both English and French.
The exercises are set up to enhance knowledge though a combination of python-based coding problems and written question/answer problems
Expected student activities
Students are expected to attend lecture to maximize learning
Students will learn how to use python and online resources to analyze probability and statistics problems and scenarios. Python will be used periodically in class, and extensively in exercises.
Knowledge of coding in python is useful but not mandatory.
Assessment methods
There will be 2 midterm tests (each worth 15% of the course crade) and one final exam.
Resources
Virtual desktop infrastructure (VDI)
Yes
Notes/Handbook
Lecture slides will be uploaded to the moodle as PDFs.
