Summary

The engineering internship is an integral part of the curriculum for master's students. They join companies in Switzerland or abroad to carry out either an internship or their master thesis project in a field of activity where their skils of future engineers are highlighted.

Required courses

Having completed two full semesters.

Learning Outcomes

By the end of the course, the student must be able to:

  • Take into consideration the importance of legal procedures and the ethical code of the profession
  • Transcribe effectively and be understood
  • Assess / Evaluate the level of acquired skills and plan the next goals
  • Manage priorities

Transversal skills

  • Use a work methodology appropriate to the task.
  • Communicate effectively, being understood, including across different languages and cultures.
  • Evaluate one's own performance in the team, receive and respond appropriately to feedback.
  • Respect relevant legal guidelines and ethical codes for the profession.
  • Take account of the social and human dimensions of the engineering profession.

Assessment methods

- Short internship (8 weeks) : electronical evaluation at the end of the internship & Students will hand-in a video report at the end of their internship. The video must not exceed 3 minutes.

- Long internship (6 months) : electronical evaluation at the end of the internship & Students will hand-in a video report at the end of their internship. The video must not exceed 3 minutes.

- Master's project in the industry : see the master's project course book & Students will hand-in a video report at the end of their internship. The video must not exceed 3 minutes.
