This course provides students with the tools to understand and address the ethical challenges of emerging technologies, empowering them to make responsible decisions that positively impact society and the environment.

Content

Learning Outcomes

By the end of the course, the student must be able to:

  • Identify the ethical issues that engineers may encounter in their professional activities.
  • Use ethical concepts and frameworks to analyze ethical issues in engineering practice.
  • Use ethical tools to address ethical challenges and integrate ethics into engineering practice
  • Make ethical decisions based on solid ethical reasoning about engineering practice

Transversal skills

  • Make an oral presentation.

Teaching methods

Students will attend an introductory lecture in English that provides the essential knowledge needed for their assessments; a variety of active learning strategies (2-minute note review, take-home tweet, think-pair-share) will be employed during class to deepen cognitive engagement and interaction with the course material.

Expected student activities

  • Participate in the weekly 2-hour lecture sessions.
  • Develop and complete a short group project.
  • Present the group project in oral format.
  • Deliver one short written output.
  • Read assigned literature.
