Summary
The aim of the course is to acquire the concepts and methods of Science and Technology Studies in order to learn how to decode the interweaving of science and technology in society by applying these elements to the general issues of innovation.
Content
During the fall semester, this course introduces a series of key notions (path dependence, enrolment, technoscientific promise, etc.) in the sociology of innovation. During the spring semester, students are asked to mobilize these notions to describe innovations in the making.

By the end of the course, the student must be able to:
- Conduct a study on a scientific or technical innovation in the making
- Apply the fundamentals of qualitative inquiry to the chosen object or theme
- Describe the socio-technical networks at work and their transformations
- Interpret the data collected in the study
- Construct an informed view of the interactions between science, technology and society
- Contextualise the situation under study
- Compare the study with the state of the art in the sociological literature

- Plan and carry out activities in a way which makes optimal use of available time and other resources.
- Use a work methodology appropriate to the task.
- Collect data.
- Write a scientific or technical report.
