Summary
The course will discuss the relationship between climate change and social norms. We will discuss what social norms are, how they can be changed, how they can be measured. Moreover, we will learn how to simulate social norms change for a specific social phenomenon.
Content
The course will discuss the relationship between climate change and social norms.
⢠In the first part of the course, we will discuss what social norms are, how they can be changed,
how they can be measured.
⢠In the second part, we will learn how to simulate social norms change for a specific social
phenomenon.
⢠Finally, students will present their analysis of a socially harmful behaviour and their simulation
of a social norm change towards socially beneficial behaviours.
Teaching methods
Classes will be a combination of lecturing, reading, and discussing social norms.
Assessment methods
Students will present their research idea and simulation in class (40% of the grade).
Finally, students will submit a short research paper tackling a social norm change with a theoretical analysis and a simulation of the potential social norms change (60% of the grade).
